Dirt from pollution builds up in your windows not just outside, but also on the inside. They block the natural sunlight and outside view from your home.
Using the right products and techniques, you can make your windows look like new again so make sure you avoid these mistakes:
1. Cleaning your windows on a sunny day.
When you clean the windows in the blazing sun, the cleaner will dry on the windows before you can wipe it off, leaving hard-to-remove streaks. Try starting on the shady side if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
2. Spraying over dust and dirt with cleaner
Using a duster, brush or handheld vacuum, sweep dirt away from the window frame before you begin cleaning. This will prevent the dirt from turning into a muddy mess when combined with a cleaner.
3. Holding back on spraying cleaner
If your windows are extra dirty, don’t hold back on the cleaner. You need plenty to dissolve the dirt and suspend it in water, so it can be completely wiped away. Using less sprays of cleaner will result to even more streaks.
4. Drying your windows
There are some that use newspapers in drying their windowpanes, but the ink from these can leave marks behind. We recommend using reusable microfibre cloths which are very absorbent, washable and leave the glass streak-free and shiny. You may need to use multiple cloths as once dirt is absorbed into one cloth it will continue to smear dirt around, exchanging for clean cloths frequently will prevent this.
5. Cleaning all your windows in one day
We recommend cleaning your windows regularly but it’s easiest to divide the task by room and do not do it all in one day. When you’re cleaning, wipe one side (internal/external) horizontally and the other vertically. Whenever streaks appear, you’ll easily know which side they’re from.
