Why Do Hard Water Stains Happen?
Hard water is any water with an excess presence of sediments and minerals, such as calcium and magnesium. As you continue to use your fixtures and appliances, hard water will continue to build up and eventually leave rust and scale stains that seem impossible to remove. Toilet bowls are especially susceptible because they hold standing water.
1. Use baking soda and vinegar to form a natural cleaning product with the ability to cut through even the most difficult stains.
2. White vinegar is very acidic and will dissolve hard water stains over time. Mix together a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water in a plastic spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Spray on stained area, let sit for 20 minutes, then rinse.
3. Use baking soda and salt to make an abrasive paste that will scrub away the hard water stains over time.
4. You can also try to soak a cloth or paper towel in rubbing alcohol, wring out any excess liquid, then place the soaked cloth onto the stained area of your toilet bowl for several hours
5. If there is still a ring around your toilet, you can try to scrub it out using a fine grade steel wool. We recommend using such fine grade steel because it is less likely to scratch up the porcelain of your toilet.
